Understanding Levels of Care

Treatment is offered at different intensities. This guide helps you understand what each level involves and how many hours per week are typical.

    24/7 care

  • Residential

  • Partial Hospitalization (PHP)

A day program where you attend 4–8 hours per day, 5–7 days a week. You receive structured support during the day and return home each evening.

    About 20–40+ hours/week

  • Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

Structured sessions 2–4 hours per day, 3–5 days per week. May include group therapy, individual therapy, and medication support. You live at home.
